Prominent Thai photographer Chamni Thipmanee has long brooded over the problem of violence in Thai society. ‘Bang Bang (you’re dead)’, a photographic series of children playing with toy guns, manifests his fears, made timely at a moment when the culture of violence has gone viral across the land. We can get shot just meeting someone’s eyes or overtaking the wrong car. From kids with plastic guns to road rage – is it overkill to see a causal link?
