Part cultural anthropology, part art, and part spiritual journey, Bruce Gundersen’s work captures the rich folklore of Thailand, Cambodia, and Burma. For the past eight years, the New York artist has been researching southeast Asian myths, legends and folk tales and traveling there with storyboards in hand of the scenes he wishes to visually narrate. Working with local artists and dancers, Gundersen photographs images, creating digital building blocks that he layers into mysteriously complex photomontages.
